SOAP Devotion Galatians 4:6-7 – Why should I seek intimacy with God’s spirit? – Free online Bible study – Commentary in easy English – Day 734

Because you are his children, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts. He is the Holy Spirit. By his power, we call God Abba. Abba means Father. So you aren’t a slave any longer. You are God’s child. Because you are his child, God gives you the rights of those who are his children. (Galatians 4:6-7)
This morning before I was fully awake, the Spirit spoke to me, not in words but from a warm place in my heart. The Spirit nudges me frequently, but this is only the third time I’ve heard the Spirit’s thoughts. The first time was in 1990. The second time, in 2021, the Spirit told me that something special would happen on June 2, 2022. On that date, my children had a telephone conversation probably to confirm I was crazy, but I’m sure that was the day God put my granddaughter together inside her mother’s body.
As I listened, God confirmed that this morning, specified my granddaughter would have a supernatural gift, and told me she may not resemble others in the family because God has set her apart.
I’m telling this story because God offers wonderful things to those who seek a relationship with him. Many years ago, I read Stasi and John Eldredge’s book, Captivating, in which Stasi states that every woman longs for three things: To be romanced, to play an irreplaceable role in a great adventure, and to unveil beauty. She tells how God romanced her. I want that for myself.
The point is, God doesn’t love Stasi more than me or me more than you because we are all his children. When we’re not slaves to the world and care more about what God thinks, our communication and intimacy with him will increase. We’ll call him Abba, a tender word, equivalent to Daddy. When we seek a close relationship with God, he’ll give us favor and joy, and we’ll play an irreplaceable role in God’s great adventure.
Abba, I praise you for wanting a close relationship with me. Help me seek that by communicating better and letting you change me so I can play a lead role in your great adventure. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

  1. We need to talk on the phone about the premonitions. I feel that the more we let God into our lives the more intimate the relationship becomes. It is remembering to include God in our day, the good and the bad, and all of our worries. I need to get better about the inclusion part of the equation.

Praying for you and the family.

    1. I’m glad to talk to you about them. I’ve had trouble including Godn in my day but as I get better about it, my relationship with God is growing deeper. I prayed for you this morning.

  2. It was good talking to you this morning. I don’t think that you are crazy. I know that some people do not believe that things, like a premonition, can happen. I do believe that it can happen. I feel fortunate that I have also been blessed with a religious experience.

Saying prayers for you and your family.

    1. I also prayed for you and your family this morning. Can hardly wait for your trip to Florida. We are both blessed.
