SOAP Devotion Galatians 6:13-16 – Do you boast in the cross of Jesus? – Free online Bible Study – Commentary in easy English – Day 753

Not even those who are circumcised keep the law, yet they want you to be circumcised that they may boast about your circumcision in the flesh. May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, what counts is the new creation. Peace and mercy to all who follow this rule—to the Israel of God. (Galatians 6:13-16)

I had difficulty creating enjoyable fight scenes and took my hodgepodge of words to the critique group at the Florida Christian Writers Conference. They encouraged me, but I had too many characters, and the scenes were so bad, my work was difficult to appraise. I can imagine my colleagues thought this woman cannot write. And I couldn’t.

I attended conferences, read numerous writing craft books, and regularly attended Word Weavers groups. Like Paul, I realize that works of the flesh are nothing to brag about. I boast that I can’t write because our Lord, Jesus Christ, is the one who provides ideas and words and directs people who can improve my novel to me. His works are much greater than my own.

When Satan tells you you’re not good enough, boast in the cross of Jesus. Tell him that God created you anew and will provide all you need to fulfill the dreams God placed in your heart. “Delight yourself in the Spirit of the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4) Youll also receive peace and mercy.

Father, I praise you for putting dreams in my heart and for giving me everything I need to fulfill them. When Satan attacks me, help me to remember I’m more than enough because of your mercy and to give you the glory. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

  1. Satan does not want us to boast in the cross of Jesus, but it is exactly what we need to do, to ward off Satan and his evil.

Heavenly Father, bind my heart to you so I may do good things in my life. Give me your mercy and love when I make mistakes. Help me find the right path to take and I will give You the glory. I am asking You to protect my family and friends from harm, keep them in your loving arms and show them mercy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
