Years ago, God inspired me to write a novel demonstrating his goodness. I didn’t realize his calling would require studying the craft, attending critique groups and conferences, endless editing, queries, and rejections. Many days I felt insufficient and wanted to give up.
God doesn’t instruct us to quit but to sow from our gifts and thereby please the Spirit. In the Bible, sowing serves as a metaphor for our actions.
Our call to sow can tire our minds, bodies, and soul. Weariness affects our productivity, but Interaction with the Holy Spirit and encouraging friends provide inspiration to combat fatigue.
I spend the first hour of my day alone with God. I listen to his voice and write the words he gives me. After many years of toiling, frustration, and joy, my novel nears completion. God promises we’ll reap a harvest if we don’t give up.
In Matthew 19:29, Jesus promises to reward our obedience through trials with abundant blessings. Perseverance leads us to the destination God has planned for us.
Join me in praying for the Holy Spirit’s power and wisdom. Don’t give up. Run the race and reap your harvest.
Father, I praise you for your promises. Give me your power, wisdom, and resources to fight weariness. Help me sow for you and not get weary. When discouragement comes, prompt me to seek inspiration from your word, Spirit, and friends. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
I just finished praying for our families, and the situation that I am trying to conquer. He knows what is going to happen and He has that plan. So, I am praying for His wisdom, to point me in the right direction to find what is best for my family. I need His wisdom now. I need Him to control the situation, instead of me trying to control the situation. I have missed the devotionals, but I know how busy you have been seeing all the grandkids. That is a good thing.
I’m sorry I haven’t published as many devotions as I would like to. My life is spread very thin, so I’m also asking God for wisdom to let me know what I should and should not be doing. I love being with my grandchildren. I think selling the Ocala house will be helpful. I will continue writing devotionals as I won’t quit studying the Bible and I have a desire to share what I learn. I’m praying for your family. Blessings, Jody
