“Therefore, since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by human design and skill. In the past God overlooked such ignorance.” (Acts 17:29-30a)
God is a creator. Since we are God’s children made in His image, we like to create too. We believe we can design God into things He is not. Our ancestors designed Him from gold, silver, and stone, but we are more creative.
Most Christians craft Him into a judgmental God instead of a loving God, a heavy-handed God who rules with many laws instead of a God who sets us free, and a God who has many rules to get into heaven, instead of a God who simply asks us to believe.
Apostle Paul said, “But I fear that, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds might be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” (2 Corinthians 11:3) God loves everyone He created. Every day he draws unbelievers to Himself. But the enemy enters our minds and convinces us that being a Christian is too difficult, that God doesn’t love us, and that we are not worthy.
Before Christ, God overlooked our ignorance to make Him into something He is not. He sent Christ to tell us who He is.
God makes it simple to enter His gates with Thanksgiving and His courts with praise. The Ruler of the universe loves you and makes you worthy because His Son took your sins and buried them. Believe Jesus, not the enemy and not the world, and He will save you. It’s that simple.
Father, I love you and I praise you for making it easy to be saved by Jesus. I pray that every unbeliever, because of our Savior, will know they are worthy of You and that You want a loving relationship with them. Let everyone see the simplicity that is in Christ. In His name I pray, amen.
