Daily Devotional Acts 17:30b-31 – Do you have to be a believer to go to heaven? – Free online Bible Study – Commentary in easy English – Day 607

But now he commands all people everywhere to repent. For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.” (Acts 17:30b-31)

Jesus paid a great price to take our sin. When we give our wrongdoings to Him (repent), we give glory to God for His wonderful plan.

Jesus said, “As the father raises the dead and gives life, so too does the Son…The Father…has given all judgment to the Son…I assure you that the time is coming…when the dead will hear the voice of God’s Son, and those who listen will live…the time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice.” (John 5:21-22, 25, 28b)

In these verses, Jesus promises there will be both Resurrection and Judgment, a day when all who are still in their graves will come alive. Jesus will preach the Gospel and those who listen will live. He is the only way to heaven but not many won’t believe when they encounter Him face to face. God’s love is so great, there is a backup plan for those who don’t believe before they die. Since the promise of the Resurrection has been fulfilled, we can also count on the promise of Judgment.

Heavenly Father, I praise You for Your perfect plan of redemption. I’m sorry for the times I haven’t loved others and hurt them and for not connecting with You as often as I should. Thank You for giving Jesus to be my savior and  take my problems so I can concentrate on loving others. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

  1. The way to the Father is through the Son. I too believe that there is a back up plan and that Jesus will present Himself to non-believers upon their death. I love you, Sis! Have a blessed day.

    1. Hope you have a great rest of the week. We’re going to Jax tomorrow so I probably won’t post until Saturday. Blessings and Love!
