Bible Study Devotional – Day 237 – Commentary Luke 10:7-9 – Accept God’s blessings

“Stay there, eating and drinking what they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house. When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you. Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’” (Luke 10:7-9)

When my sister had cancer a Mormon neighbor and a couple from his congregation came to her house, anointed her head with oil, and said prayers. They commanded God heal her in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. It was a powerful and humbling moment for my sister. She is cancer-free today.

Because my sister welcomed the missionaries God sent her, she received a blessing. Jesus sent out seventy-two missionaries to heal and tell about the kingdom of God. He sent others besides the Apostles so we know Jesus gives power to all His followers, not just His Apostles. God blessed many people through the seventy-two. In return they deserved blessings of food and shelter. God arranged a house for each to stay at, so if they changed location for any reason, they would no longer be under God’s blessing

Father, God, give me Your power to heal, spread God’s love, and tell others about Your kingdom. Help me bestow Your blessings on others and command healing in the Name of Jesus. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

  1. Jody, you are spreading God’s love, you are telling others about God’s kingdom. You are bestowing God’s blessings everyday when you write about God’s words. Thank you for the spiritual help you have given me, so that I could become closer to God. It has made a huge difference in my life. I am so grateful that I am cancer free and that God helped me and my Doctors. God gave blessings to you as well, and now you are 10 years cancer free. I do feel humbled.

    1. Dearest Pam, if I have only helped you become closer to God, my time spent on the website has been well spent. It is a blessing having you for a sister. You do a great job of spreading God’s love as well. I love you.
