Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. Since they disregarded the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness (Romans 10:1-3)
Paul prayed a lot for the Israelites to be saved. He loved his people. The reason Jewish people fail to find God’s peace and forgiveness is because they seek to establish their own righteousness through obeying the Law. They totally miss God’s gift of righteousness which is given only by God’s grace. Righteousness cannot come from the Law. If you ever have taken a pen from work without asking or see something that someone else has and wish you had it too, you have broken the Law.
“Christ is the culmination of the Law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.” (Romans 10:4)
The path to righteousness is simple. Know that God is drawing you to Himself, and knock on His door through prayer. Know that you need a Savior and that your Savior is Jesus and trust Him. Declare that you believe in Jesus, and you will be saved and receive God’s grace which includes the gift of righteousness. Then, build the foundation of your life on the Rock, Jesus.
