SOAP Devotional Galatians 1:11-12 – What did God reveal to Paul? – Free online Bible study – Commentary in easy English – Day 709

For I would have you know, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ. (Galatians 1:11-12)

It’s important for the Galatians and us to know Paul’s authority since he wrote most of the New Testament. Like the other apostles, he learned about Jesus directly from Jesus. He revealed himself after his resurrection to Paul on the Road to Damascus. He had to be the Messiah.

Can you imagine the guilt Paul felt when Jesus called out, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” Not only had Paul been persecuting Christians, but he was persecuting Christ. Whenever we yell at or hurt another person, we’re also hurting Christ.

But Jesus also revealed that he took our wrongdoings to the grave with him. When we repent and ask Jesus to save us, our sins are removed, and God sees us as righteous. We’re called to begin a new life without guilt and move into God’s will.

Paul probably had more to feel guilty about than you or I, but if he would’ve let guilt saddle him, he couldn’t have accomplished God’s will. Let Jesus bury your guilt today so you can better serve God.

Father, I praise you for sending Jesus to save me. I’m feeling guilty about _________. Take the guilt and free me. Lighten my load so I can serve you with joy. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

  1. This is something I struggle with in my heart, being able to let go of guilt and give it to Christ. I know what I am supposed to do but I have problems doing what I’m supposed to do. I know that Christ wants to release me from the guilt. It takes me a long time to struggle through the process and feel better about things. I eventually get to where I am supposed to be. I guess everyone is different in how they work through things.

Praying for you and your family and praying for my family.

    1. God understands you and realizes it takes you longer to free yourself than most people. At least you eventually get there. A lot of people don’t. I prayed for you also. Hope all goes well tomorrow. Blessings, Jody
