The king rose and with him the governor and Bernice and those sitting with them. After they left the room, they began saying to one another, “This man is not doing anything that deserves death or imprisonment.” Agrippa said to Festus. “This man could have been set free if he had not appealed to Caesar.” (Acts 26:30-32)
King Agrippa stood to end Paul’s speech. He didn’t want Paul to persuade him to be a Christian. He pronounced Paul’s innocence but, like Festus, didn’t want to upset the Jews by releasing him, so likely, he used Paul’s appeal to Caesar as an excuse to keep him in chains.
Years earlier, when Ananias didn’t want to help Paul because Paul had persecuted Christians, God told Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles, their kings, and the people of Israel.” Part of Paul’s calling was to tell kings about Jesus. King Agrippa was the first, and Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus would be the second.
God is in charge. Choices we make apart from God may delay our destinies, but He will ensure we fulfill them.
Father, I praise You for pulling me back to Your path when I stray. I’m always available to do Your will, Lord and thank you for giving me Your power and wisdom. Sit with me today, and help me write a plan to follow the dreams you’ve placed in my heart. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
I will be praying as I enter the chamber this morning for success in both being able to complete the entire treatment and that I will heal. Healing is the main thing I need to be doing now and I know God is with me as I go through all of this. I have fears though, and I am trying to overcome them. I love you, Jody and I am saying prayers for you too. We can both hold up to the challenges that we have.
