SOAP Daily Devotional Acts 23:23-24 – Will God turn his back on you? – Free online Bible Study – Commentary in easy English – Day 666

Then he (the commander) called two of his centurions and ordered them, “Get ready a detachment of two hundred soldiers, seventy horsemen and two hundred spearmen to go to Caesarea at nine tonight. Provide horses for Paul so that he may be taken safely to Governor Felix. (Acts 23:23-24)

God called Paul to bear witness in Rome, so the commander sent 470 troops to shelter him. The forty armed men who plotted to kill Paul had no chance to succeed because God protects his servants.

If you’ve asked Jesus to save you,  He promises to shield you and help you succeed. “He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.” (Proverbs 2:7-8)

Maybe you aren’t feeling faultless today, but on the first Good Friday, Jesus took all your wrongdoings when He died on the cross and made you blameless and just. Even if your faith is fragile and as small as a mustard seed, God promises to protect you also.

Father, I praise You for sending Jesus to make me blameless. Let me enter your refuge and give you my greatest fear: ________________ and trust Your promise to protect me. Give me the courage and power of Your Spirit to step out in boldness and pursue the dreams You’ve placed in my heart knowing You’ve promised to make me successful. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

  1. Sometimes my faith is fragile and as small as a mustard seed. Right now I am wondering where God is in my life. I am praying for complete and total healing and that hasn’t happened. I have people praying for me and my healing. I am waiting. Somedays I feel impatient. Other days I know He will get this done in His time. I am trying to keep my faith strong and know that He will not abandon me because I am His child.

    1. Thanks for your comment. I’ve already prayed for your healing today. I have faith He will heal you in His time and in His way. He has you in the palm of His hand. Blessings, Jody
