“‘Get up,’ the Lord said, ‘and go into Damascus. There you will be told all that you have been assigned to do.’ My companions led me by the hand into Damascus, because the brilliance of the light had blinded me.” (Acts 22:10b-11)
Most need to change before we can be instrumental in God’s plan. We are bound to addictions, are negative, or have poor self-esteem. Paul was arrogant and thought he could conquer the world alone. We can’t. So Jesus blinded Paul to teach humbleness.
Paul’s first assignment was to travel the road to Damascus, the road to change. For Paul, it was a path to dependence upon people and God. For me, it’s to dispense of a food addiction and pray my way through the day.
What do you need to ‘get up’ and do before you can handle your assignment effectively?
Father, I praise You for giving me an assignment. Help me through my addictions, draw me closer to you, and help me to be happy in any situation so people will want what I have—You. I pray in Jesus’ precious and holy name. Amen.
