Daily Devotional Acts 17:24-25 – If God doesn’t need us, why did He create us? – Free online Bible Study – Commentary in easy English – Day 603

The God who made the world and everything in it—he is Lord of heaven and earth—does not live in shrines made by hands. Neither is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything since he himself gives everyone life and breath and all things. (Acts 17:24-25)

God made the heavens, earth, and everything in them, including us, His children. He is not only our Maker; he is our Giver. He provides our needs, wants, and hopes and gives us dreams and a purpose. God created every scientific law but gives us the pleasure of discovering them and smiles proudly as we do.

He lives in the heavens and the earth and cannot be confined to any one church, although He is present when anyone praises or prays to Him.

God needs nothing from us. He created us to need Him. Our dreams come from God, but we need Him to provide the connections, coincidences, and circumstances to make them come true.

Although God needs nothing, he wants relationships with us like His everlasting bond with Jesus and the Holy Spirit. In John 17:21, Jesus prays for all believers. “I pray also for those who will believe in me…, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us.”

Lord of heaven and earth, I praise You for inviting me into Your intimate relationship with Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Help my family bond with Your Trinity and each other and value relationships as You do.

  1. I firmly believe that God needs us and wants to be in a relationship with us. It is how we grow stronger, and more faithful to our Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He listens and blesses us, much more than we can ever imagine.
