Daily Devotional Acts 16:9-10 – What is a vision from God? – Free online Bible Study – Commentary in easy English – Day 588

During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them. (Acts 16:9-10)

Sometimes I have the vision of little children reaching out to me. The vision may be a picture of an old UNICEF commercial or a photograph from Joyce Meyer’s website but the vision stuck with me. I know God wants me to help children learn about Jesus and encourage them.

A vision is different from a dream. A dream involves ourselves. A vision is about someone who needs us. Paul had such a vision telling him that a person or people in Macedonia needed him. Most of the world cries out because they need help, encouragement, a meal, or love.

Perhaps a picture of someone popped into your mind while reading this devotional. That is a vision. Get in touch with that person and give them a word of encouragement. Start a conversation, and they may tell you about another need in their life. God wants to use you to give other people joy and perhaps purpose through your encouragement.

Father God, I praise you for Your direction. Let me be attune to the visions you place in my mind. Show me a person whom I can give joy. I pray in Jesus’ name, amen.

  1. I know that things have just popped into my mind before and I wondered why I happened to think of that person or place. Funny thing is, I can’t think of an example . That tells me something, I think. Perhaps I should be more aware because God maybe trying to tell me something.

    1. If someone pops into your mind it is good to send them a message saying you care about them. It is always good to encourage someone.
