Daily Devotional Acts 10:33b-36 – What is the meaning of Peter’s vision Part 4 – Does God show favoritism? – Free Online Bible Study – Commentary in easy English – Day 542

“Now we are all here in the presence of God to listen to everything the Lord has commanded you to tell us.” (Cornelius said.) Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism. God is pleased with everyone who worships him and does right, no matter what nation they come from. This is the same message that God gave to the people of Israel when he sent Jesus Christ, the Lord of all, to offer peace to them.

My middle daughter used to accuse me of having a favorite child which she claimed was my oldest daughter. I explained to her, when she was a teenager, that I had one easy child, my oldest, and two difficult children. It may have seemed like my oldest was my favorite because she didn’t need as much discipline, but I love all three of my children more than they can imagine because they have no children of their own.

God is love. He has a greater capacity to love than any human. He loves each person he created beyond what we can imagine. I used to think that God loved Joyce Meyer, Ann Graham, and Beth Moore more than he loved me based on how he has promoted them and their ministries. The truth is God wants to promote you and me just as much as Joyce, Ann, and Beth, but they are easier children. They have already learned to love and have peace in every situation. They don’t require as much discipline as I do. God still needs to allow me to be in adverse situations to learn to love and be peaceful in them. I hope to get it right soon.

Father God, I praise you for your ability to love more than I can imagine. Help me be an easy child, so you can promote me. I pray in Jesus’ name, amen.

  1. God loves us all, we are his children and I don’t believe that there is favoritism or promotion. All of our paths in life are different. I believe that God guides us but our own free will can make us take a turn in life, good or bad. We all have sin, even Joyce, Ann and Beth. God does not favor them over you in any way. To believe that God has promoted them over you because they have less to work on, is to believe that God does show favoritism. EVERYONE has things to work on in their lives, even Mother Teresa, or the Pope.

    1. I don’t feel that God promoted Joyce, Ann, and Beth over me, and I know longer feel that God favors them over me. I believe that God wants to promote me (and all Christians) and that He will promote me when I can show that His power overcomes anger and bad habits so my ministry will be believable. I need to let Him keep changing me. I also believe that the enemy has the power to promote and that kind of promotion we don’t want.
