Acts 5:25-26 – How can I know God’s will?

Then someone came and said, “Look! The men you put in jail are standing in the temple courts teaching the people.” At that, the captain went with his officers and brought the apostles. They did not use force, because they feared that the people would stone them. (Acts 5:25-26)

Jesus chose The Twelve. Actually, God chose their parents and DNA so they would develop into the men God could best use to do His will. They would be able to respect authority (both good and bad), forgive themselves, have a good balance between self-worth and humility, take refuge in Jesus, and have a burning desire to tell others about Him. God’s will was their will.

God gives us everything we ask for when God’s will is also ours. We can chase the burning desires in our hearts with confidence and without fear. It was the men with earthly authority who were afraid, not the apostles who knew God is more powerful than an army of men.

You are an important part of God’s plan. Take note of your gifts and use them. Pray and follow the desires God placed in your heart. Soon you’ll have a passion for something God wants you to do. When you follow that passion, God’s will becomes your will. He’ll protect you, and you’ll have nothing to fear.

Father God, I praise You because your plan is perfect. My life is busy with work and personal responsibilities, so help me look to earlier times and remember what gave me enjoyment. Give me the opportunity to do those things again. Place a passion in my heart so our wills are the same. I pray in Jesus’ precious and holy name, amen.
