Then a famine struck all Egypt and Canaan, bringing great suffering, and our ancestors could not find food. When Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent our forefathers on their first visit. On their second visit, Joseph told his brothers who he was, and Pharaoh learned about Joseph’s family. (Acts 7:11-13)
Jealousy among the patriarchal family of Jacob and separation from God caused spiritual famine among the Jews. People suffer when there’s no food for their souls. God created a physical famine to make the Jews dependent on Him and gave Joseph the wisdom to store grain. Jacob heard there was food in Egypt, so he took his family there. Unbeknownst to him, his son ruled Egypt. God created the scenario that would send the Jews to Egypt.
As Jacob and his sons sought food for their stomachs, hungry souls often seek the food of religion and miss the spiritual food of a personal relationship with God through Jesus. As Jacob found his son, Joseph, on the road of life, we need to find God’s son. Finding the Son creates joy. And that is another message God gave the Sanhedrin through Stephen.
God loves you and wants to be in a close relationship with you. Many times in your life He will create scenarios for you to become closer to Him through His Son. Don’t ignore God. He wants to bless you.
Father God, I praise you for wanting to bless me and my family! Remind me to pray throughout the day because it is only through a personal relationship with you that I can find everlasting joy and be blessed. In Christ’s name, I pray. Amen.
We feed our souls when we have a personal relationship with God and Jesus. Heavenly Father help me remember to pray throughout the day. Help me to remember you are there for me, there is nothing to small or too big to bring to you. You are always sitting by my side loving me and my family. Thank you. I praise You and give You the glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen
Thanks for sharing your wonderful prayer. It is wonderful that when we seek spiritual food, Jesus opens the door to a personal relationship with us. Let us all keep praying and giving God the glory! Love you, Sis.
