Daily Devotional Acts 7:4-5 – What does the Bible say about descendants? – Free Online Bible Study – Commentary in easy English – Day 496

“So he (Abraham) left the land of the Chaldeans and settled in Harran (because God led him there). After the death of his father, God sent him to this land where you are now living. He gave him no inheritance here, not even enough ground to set his foot on. But God promised him that he and his descendants after him would possess the land, even though at that time Abraham had no child.” (Acts 7:4-5)

I have a friend who wanted children and couldn’t get pregnant. She prayed and asked God to fulfill His promise to give her descendants. One day in the grocery store, a pregnant woman approached her and asked if she wanted children. A couple months later my friend was the mother of twin baby girls.

God promises His children descendants. You may not have any now, but if you ask God for children and thank him in advance for keeping His promise, He will give you a child. They may not be natural children, but that doesn’t matter. Every non-Jew who is a Christian is adopted into the family of God, Abraham’s family.

Not only will God grant you a child(ren), He promises your offspring will be delivered from the land of the enemy. (Jeremiah 31:16) They will have peace (Isaiah 54:13). God will save them. (Isaiah 49:25) They will be blessed and mighty upon the earth. (Psalm 112:1-2)

Father God, I praise You for Your promises concerning my children (and grandchildren). Thank you, Lord, in advance for giving me many descendants, saving them, blessing them, making them mighty upon the earth, and giving them peace. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

  1. God sent an angel to me and blessed me with a child. It was clear to me that I would never have a child without God’s intervention. I was blessed with a miracle. Thank you Heavenly Father for Your love, Your gifts, Your grace and Your mercy.

    1. In blessing you with a daughter, God blessed our whole family. Now she has been blessed with a son. I love that God promises He will save our children and grandchildren and bless them. He also promises that they will be delivered from the enemy and have peace. What an awesome God!

  2. Howdy just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your post seem to be running off the screen in Safari. I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I figured I’d post to let you know. The design look great though! Hope you get the issue fixed soon. Kudos

    1. Thank you for coming to my website and your encouragement. I prayed for you today and hope you know how wide and long and high and deep God’s love is for you. Blessings, Jody
