Daily Devotional Acts 6:5-7 – Does promotion come from God? – Free Online Bible Study – Commentary in easy English – Day 492

This proposal (that they choose seven deacons to be in charge of the food bank) pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit; also Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism. They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them. So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient in the faith. (Acts 6:5-7)

When we’re filled with the Holy Spirit and wisdom and obedient to God in small ways, He’ll trust us and give us more responsibility. If you’re a caregiver or pass the collection plate at church and want more responsibility, be the best caregiver or collector you can be knowing that you’re doing it for God, and He will promote you. The key is to pray for God’s Holy Spirit and wisdom to fill you, pray for promotion within God’s will, to be hands-on in your charity, and to care for those you are serving. If you pass the collection plate, let your mouth and eyes smile and pray for those who touch the plate.

Remember that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. When someone approaches your temple, usher them in with love. God wants to promote you and use you to advance His kingdom. If all Christians loved and cared for those whom they serve, Jesus’ disciples would increase rapidly, and a large number of people would change their path to serve God.

Dearest Heavenly Father, I praise you for wanting me to be as great as the apostles and Stephen and Philip so I can give you the glory. I want to do more for Your kingdom. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and wisdom and help me be creative in serving those you’ve given me. Promote me and place dreams in my heart so that I may fulfill them through You. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

  1. The more that you pray and make God part of your life, the closer and more personal relationship you develop with God. You said in one of your devotions, “Imagine God sitting next to you when you pray.” When you do that you let the Holy Spirit into your being. At least, that is how it affected me. For me, this is the promotion.

    1. I think you are right. Being closer to God is a promotion. “Come close to God, and God will come close to you.” (James 4:8) It will affect your life in many ways. Right now God wants you to care for your family, but as you come closer to Him and let the Holy Spirit change you, God will promote you. That is a promise from God. I prayed for you and your family this morning. Blessings, Jody

  2. I simply wanted to appreciate you once more. I’m not certain the things that I could possibly have taken care of without the actual ideas discussed by you relating to such subject. It had been a real challenging scenario in my view, however , being able to view a new expert fashion you managed the issue took me to leap over gladness. I’m happy for this service and thus have high hopes you comprehend what an amazing job you are undertaking instructing some other people using a site. Most likely you haven’t encountered all of us.

    1. Thank you so much for your encouragement and visiting my website. I prayed for you this morning and hope you know how high and long and wide and deep God’s love for you is. He’s longing for you to speak to Him in prayer today! Blessings, Jody
