Daily Devotional Acts 4:25-28 – Should Christians plan with God? – Free Online Bible Study – Commentary in easy English – Day 473

“You spoke by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of your servant, our father David: ‘Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed one.’ Indeed Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed. They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen. (Acts 4:25-28)

Many times I write in my planner without consulting God, and I plot in vain. It is when I trust God enough to make His will my will and pray for His guidance in planning and achieving goals that God will trust me to do His work.

As our leaders rise up and band together against God and Jesus, God wants us to be His hands and feet and spread His love, so our bosses, family, friends, co-workers, and those who serve us at stores and restaurants will come to know Him through us. These early Christians, many of whom yelled, “Crucify Him!” converted to Christianity because of the power and love of the Holy Spirit through Peter and John.

We can follow the example of Peter and John by praising God and using His power to change the world. Think of the dream he placed in your heart and pray as you write in your planner to work toward His goals.

Father God, I praise you for using me to carry out your will and to love the unlovable so others come to know you through me. Let the Holy Spirit unite with my spirit to change me and fill me with power so I can fulfill the dreams you’ve placed in my heart. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

  1. Somehow, I think that I missed this and never made a comment. Yes, I think Christians should plan with God. He knows our destiny, He makes our life plan. It is His calendar and His time.
