Daily Devotional Acts 4:13-15 – Does God use the ordinary to do the extraordinary? – Free Online Bible Study – Commentary in easy English – Day 469

When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. But since they could see the man who had been healed standing there with them, there was nothing they could say. So they ordered them to withdraw from the Sanhedrin and then conferred together. Acts 4:13-15

When the Sanhedrin conferred, they were astonished these uneducated men had great knowledge, the courage of great leaders, the self-discipline to remain calm while being seized, and the power to heal. God makes the ordinary extraordinary.

God promises: “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1:7) It isn’t until we’ve been filled with the Spirit and ask daily through prayer for refills that we understand how we are changed through the Spirit. The spirit makes us extraordinary.

Father, I praise you that I can do all things through Christ. Make your will for me known. I know you will change me and give me the tools to do Your work. In Christ’s name I pray, amen.

  1. God does give us power, love and self discipline along with many other gifts. I am not very good at self discipline. I pray about this. Right now I am praying for hubby, that his surgery goes well.

    1. I’m very glad his surgery went well. I’m doing better with self-discipline, but I’m definitely not there yet. Hope you and hubby have a great day. Blessings, Jody

  2. Hi, I think your site might be having browser compatibility issues. When I look at your website in Safari, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other then that, fantastic blog!

    1. Thank you for your encouragement and coming to my website. Isn’t it wonderful that the Holy Spirit changes us from ordinary to extraordinary. I prayed for you and your family today and hope you know how wide and long and high and deep God’s love is for you. Blessings, Jody
