Daily Devotional Acts 2:34-35 – How do I ask God to heal me? Will entering God’s rest heal me and solve my problems? – Free online Bible Study – Commentary in easy English – Day 453

For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said, “The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.” Acts 2:34-35

Jesus was the first in heaven, but He took others with Him, including David. But before David went to heaven, God made it known to David, through the gift of prophecy, that Jesus would sit at God’s right hand and would make His enemies a footstool for His feet. Paul made the above verse clear for us in Ephesians 1:18-23 and, in fact, prayed for us: “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened…to his great power for us who believe…that same power…he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand…And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body.”

You and I are the church, the body of Christ, sitting on the throne with Christ who is the head. We are to take refuge, to rest in His arms, on the throne with Christ until God makes our enemies a footstool for our feet. Our enemies are not only people, but they are situations: sickness, a lack of money to pay bills, a bad job or marital situation, whatever you suffer from.

Hebrews 4:1 tells us: “God’s promise of entering his rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it.” In other words, be afraid if you think you can heal yourself, get yourself out of a bad situation, or you’re not worthy of God’s help because chances are, you will jump from the frying pan into the fire. Have faith that because you are His child, God will heal you or change the circumstances so your problem will go away. Rest in Him.

Father God, I rest on the throne with Jesus in faith knowing You’ll make my illness/infection and problems as a footstool under my feet. You’ll heal me and solve my problems with the power of the Holy Spirit because I am Your child. I praise You for that. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

  1. I, too, am praying that my infection will be healed so I do not have to have surgery. I am praying for your health concerns, Jody. God is by our sides giving us courage and strengthening our faith as we ask for help with our bad habits, our health and any problems that we pray about.

    1. Thanks for your prayers! My problem with craving food is dwindling. Yesterday wasn’t the best day in that regard but slowly, I am overcoming my craving for food. I am able to eat just one small piece of chocolate and have only one smaller helping of dinner most of the time. Last night I didn’t do so well, though. I had two helpings of dinner. But overall I am doing much better. I also feel my stomach and digestive issues are getting better, so thanks for your prayers. I don’t think you’ll have to have surgery. God is awesome! Blessings, Jody

    1. Marg, thank you so much! You are so encouraging! I’m glad you enjoyed my post, “How do I ask God to heal me?” I hope you know how wide and long and high and deep God’s love is for you. I prayed for you and your family this morning, and I hope you visit again. Blessings, Jody
