Daily Devotional Acts 2:25-28 – Do you see the Lord before you? – Free Online Bible Study – Commentary in easy English – Day 451

David said about him (Jesus): “I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest in hope, because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, you will not let your holy one see decay. You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence. (Acts 2:25-28 taken from Psalm 16, a Psalm of David)

Picture yourself with Jesus as David did. He holds your right hand as he helps you from bed. Standing slightly in front of you, He leads you to the kitchen. Turning His head, He flashes you a heartfelt smile, calming you. It will be a good day. You return his smile and thank Him for His guidance as you make morning coffee. He waits and guides you to the patio where you praise His creation.

Jesus sits in front of you, takes both of your hands, looks warmly into your eyes, and says. “You follow me as my sheep and listen to my voice, my nudging. I know and love you as the Father loves me. My spirit is in you, your spirit is in me, and the Father’s spirit is in us, so we are in complete unity. God has given you to me, and I want you to be with Me and see My glory. By grace, My Father gives you eternal life, and you will never perish. (See John 10:17-28, John 17:23-24)

Live with the wisdom and happiness of these promises from the Bible for those who follow Jesus. Be filled with joy in the presence of the Holy Spirit as King David was.

Father God, I love you and praise you because of Your love and promises. Help me follow Jesus as His Holy Spirit makes known to me the paths of my life. Thank you for filling me with joy in Your presence and letting me know you will not abandon me in the realm of the dead. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

  1. These are important promises made to us. They fill me with hope for eternal life. In trying to have a more intimate relationship with God and Jesus, I do picture them with me in times of prayer. Right now I am picturing Jesus with Drew and Dr. Lischer.

    1. That’s a good picture. I am sure Jesus was present even through the complications. I’m glad it was nothing too serious, and he was able to return home. I am still praying! Blessings, Jody
