While he was still speaking a crowd came up, and the man who was called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss him, but Jesus asked him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss? (Luke 22:47-48)
John Reed, www.jrtalks.com, states a force of 200 Roman soldiers and temple police came to arrest Jesus. John 18:3 stated they carried torches, lanterns, and weapons. They expected if Jesus was the Son of God, that God would defend Him.
Jesus knew Judas had prearranged with the Roman soldiers to arrest whomever Judas kissed. (Matthew 26:48). Jesus asked Judas if he would betray Him with a kiss because He wanted Judas to know He was aware of his betrayal. Jesus knows when we betray Him or another because He hears every conversation through the Holy Spirit.
Most have been betrayed by another. We know how bad it feels, so we feel horrible that we have betrayed someone even if it was during our puberty and teenage years. The enemy convinces us to do crazy things.
How should we treat someone who betrays us? Jesus confronted Judas with the betrayal to let Judas know His hurt. But the betrayal began before the Last Supper, and Jesus took communion with Judas and served him by washing his feet.
We should always let someone know in a nice way when they’ve hurt us. They’ll be more careful in the future not to hurt someone else in the same way. It is difficult to serve someone we don’t trust, but Jesus did. We should be wary of religions that exclude people from taking communion because Jesus didn’t. “For God has bound everyone over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.” (Romans 11:32)
Father God, thank you for Your mercy and sending Your Son, Jesus, to take away my sins. By Your grace You have made me righteous and have forgiven me. Help me forgive myself and remind me to serve all, even those I don’t like or trust. I pray in Jesus’ precious and holy name. Amen.

Merry Christmas, Jody! It is really difficult to have a relationship with or serve someone you do not like or trust. I am not subjected to this as much as I used to be since I am not working. In our personal relationships we have choices. You do not have to be friends with someone you do not like. If it is family, it becomes more complicated and hurtful and sometimes it involves forgiveness and just moving on. In business sometimes I had to ignore and pretend. Personally, I do like confrontation even if it is kind. You are right, Jesus did serve those he did not trust, which gives us an example of what we need to strive for.

I left out the word NOT. I do not like confrontation. I do not like people to be confrontational with me and I do not like to confront people. Even if it is done in the kindest way possible it always feels uncomfortable to me.
