Daily Devotional Luke 21:34-36 – Am I prepared to stand before Jesus? – Online Bible Study – Commentary in easy English – Day 377

“Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap. For it will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth. Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 21:34-36)?

1 Thessalonians 5 tells us when Jesus returns, He “will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, ‘Peace and safety,’ destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.”

People realize they need a savior but reject God and look to the government to save them. Politicians promise free health care, protection from police, government money, legalization of drugs, protection from non-violent crimes, and reduction of police and military as if these things will provide more peace and safety. They look to the government, not God, for their wants and needs and miss God’s love, grace, and peace. They become anxious. Looking for love and peace, they carouse and drink too much. When they die, or Jesus returns, they will be trapped outside the kingdom of God until their hearts change.

To escape the darkness from the absence of God in our lives whether it’s now, at our death, or when Jesus comes and leaves without us, we need to pray only the simple prayer below. Then, we’ll be prepared to stand before Jesus, find his refuge, and escape the darkness of anxiety, addiction, and destruction.

Father God, I repent of my wrongdoings. Make Your Son, Jesus, my Lord and Savior. In His name I pray, Amen.

  1. I don’t think that I am prepared to stand before Jesus yet. I am working on it though. I am not prepared to die. I want to be around many more years to enjoy retirement, travel and my family. You never know when your time is coming. I hope that if God took me today, He would think I was prepared.

    1. Since we can’t comprehend how glorious it will be to be with God and Jesus, we always think we don’t want to leave our families. I want to know my unborn grandchildren and write more books to tell people about Jesus’ love. As long as Jesus is your Lord and Savior and you continue to repent, You are ready to meet Him, and He knows you are prepared.

  2. Hey! I know this is somewhat off-topic however I needed to ask.
Does building a well-established blog such as yours take
a lot of work? I’m brand new to blogging but I do write in my diary everyday.
I’d like to start a blog so I can easily share my
personal experience and thoughts online. Please let me know if you have any kind of recommendations or tips
for brand new aspiring blog owners. Thankyou!

    1. WordPress is easy to use. I also have a web designer, Brian Kraft, out of CA. I highly recommend him, and he is very reasonable. I prayed for you and your family. Blessings, Jody

I’m thinking about setting up my own but I’m. not exactly sure where to start. Do you have any type of points or pointers? Thanks.
