Jerusalem with be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. People will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken. At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. (Luke 21:24-28)
I repeated Luke 21:24 because this sentence is a crossover between Jesus examining the destruction of the temple in 70 AD and moving forward to His second coming. The time of the Gentiles (non-Jews) began when Israel didn’t believe Jesus was the Messiah. It will last until the beginning of the end so Jesus can save every last Gentile before He fulfills His Covenant with the Jews.
The Jews won’t believe Jesus was the Son of God. When He comes again, He will leave no doubt. Matthew 24 gives additional details: the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, and stars will fall from the sky. Then Jesus will come in a cloud with power and great glory. Some think this is symbolic, and perhaps it is. But I think this fright will be necessary for the Jewish nation to believe.
God places us in difficult situations so we’ll depend on Him. He always provides a path out of trouble for those who believe in Jesus and have faith in Him. The last days will be filled with terror for those Jesus doesn’t take with Him, but in a short time the remaining non-believers will develop great faith, and Jesus will provide the way home.
Father God, thank you for Your mercy and wisdom to know when trouble comes to the earth, You will provide escape and refuge. I pray in Jesus’ precious and Holy name. Amen.

On December 21st something will occur in our solar system that has not happened in 800 years. Jupiter and Saturn will align on the Solstice. It is being called the Christmas star. Is this what happened at Jesus’ birth? Was this the bright star in the sky over Bethlehem? We will be witness to something that is rare and incredible. There are many religions that don’t believe that Christ is the Messiah. Only the Jews are addressed. When He comes again I think that it will be frightening to everyone, including Christians.
You are right, it will be frightening to everyone. But when Christians see Jesus, we’ll know He is coming for us. Thank you for sharing the alignment of the planets. I will be sure to head to my son-in-law’s house to take a closer look through his telescope. This alignment may have been the original Christmas star. If so, blessings are sure to occur on this December 21. Ask God for them.
