Daily Devotional Luke 18:6-8 – How can we make a society have justice? – The Parable of the Unjust Judge (Part 2) – Online Bible Study – Commentary in easy English – Day 338

And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:6-8)

When I was young and expressed my opinions to my father, I felt they didn’t count. It was the wisdom of that time children were to be seen, not heard. My father smoked wherever he wanted and controlled the shows on our one television. Generally, it was his way or the highway. Consequently, I rarely voice my opinions because I don’t think they matter to anyone. Many Christians are like me. We brought up our children caring about what they think, so the younger generations are boisterous about expressing their opinions. Those who are godless and experienced violence in their homes, express violence on the streets.

God cares about our opinions and injustices. Spreading His kingdom of love will result in more people praying for justice. He will answer our prayers. In less than two weeks we will vote for the president we think will unite our country even though it seems obvious no president has the ability to do that. Only God does.

If we pray persistently, wherever we are, according to God’s will, He promises to bring justice. Even the unjust judge brought justice to the widow who bugged him to death. So how much more will God bring justice because He loves us. The question is when we receive justice for ourselves or an answer to our prayers, will we quit praying? Praying is our relationship with God. So, we must never quit praying or doing God’s will. He is our hope.

Father God, thank you for loving and caring for m, and adopting me as your child. Help me  remember to pray often wherever I am to do Your will, to love others, and to spread Your kingdom. I know you want a relationship with me and to hear about my needs, the needs of my family and friends, and the needs of humanity and our nation. You are our Almighty Father and our hope. Bring justice to all. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

  1. Last night Amy Coney Barrett was sworn in. Hopefully, she is a just judge and not unjust. There are many times in life when you feel you have received something unjust and sometimes it is rectified and sometimes not. I think that we have to accept that life is not perfect. There is something unjust going on all the time. I pray about these things and I know many other Christians do the same. We all have a voice to try and change the unjust. You always paint dad as a selfish, uncaring man. He had a lot of good qualities too. I feel badly that the negative thoughts about him surface first in your mind. If my daughter ever writes about me, I hope she will think of my good qualities before she thinks of my bad ones.

    1. Dad grew a lot in the love of Jesus while he was our father. He was never uncaring. He worked hard to provide for us. He had a bad temper, and his bad temper scared me. He was selfish, although it seemed appropriate for the head of the household to be selfish in our growing up years. When we reached adulthood he treated us differently. I felt more loved as he could relate to our adult issues. He never yelled at my children although when we visited he spent a lot of time in his room listening to music. He loved us more and more when we grew older as his relationship to Jesus grew. When I think of Dad now, I picture running into His arms in heaven. I really don’t think of him negatively. Amy Coney Barrett seems to be a good Christian woman. The bench needs a strong woman. Many don’t like her because she is anti-abortion, but Roe v. Wade will unlikely ever be overturned.

  2. I am sorry if I sounded abrupt in my comment about Dad. You are right about Dad growing a lot as his love for Jesus grew. He was a different man in his older years. I think he had some real issues from his childhood to overcome. We really never talked about it. Parents are so much more open about issues today than they were in that generation. Mom told me he didn’t really have a lot love or respect for his parents. That included his mom. I guess she would tell grandpa if the kids were bad, knowing that they would get the strap from him. Most mom’s wouldn’t tell because they would protect their kids. Dad had hard feelings about her because of that. I think as Dad grew older he had a very strong faith. At his death he knew exactly where he was going and he was happy to meet Jesus.

    1. It’s not that you were abrupt, it’s that I really don’t harbor bad feelings for Dad. Sometimes in telling stories that relate to Scripture, I tell how I felt as a child and what effect situations had on me. Dad was a different person when I was young than when he died. Hopefully, we all change for the better as we go through life. James tells us: :Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
