Daily Devotional — Luke 12:41-44 – Who is the faithful and wise servant? Online Bible Study – Commentary in easy English – Day 284

Peter asked, “Lord, are you telling this parable to us, or to everyone? The Lord answered, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their food allowance at the proper time? It will be good for that servant whom the master finds doing so when he returns. Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. (Luke 12:41-44)

My sister feeds me with support, advice, encouragement, and prayer. She reads my devotional blog almost every day and never misses commenting. Her support is amazing. She tells me in an encouraging way when she doesn’t understand a post, so I recognize it needs changing. I feel her prayers. My sister-in-law and my children are also great supporters. I appreciate them and my other subscribers and readers that I wish I knew personally. Thank you for feeding me at just the right time. You touch me. I pray that God’s words and mine touch you also.

Jesus told all His followers to be ready to serve. Now Jesus informs His apostles they’ll be in charge of feeding God’s servants. There are four food groups that Jesus’ followers will need: support, advice, encouragement, and prayer. Jesus doesn’t want His apostles to wait to feed the sheep, he wants to watch them doing it now.  If God sees you’re able to provide the needs of others at the proper time, He’ll place you in charge of sheep.

Father God, help me support others as I’m supported. Let me fulfill the needs of Your sheep by giving support, advice, encouragement, and prayer. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

I’ve been writing ahead because I’m going on vacation soon. God gave me someone to support today as a result of this prayer. I mentioned her at the end of my devotion on Day 288.
