(About five thousand men were there.) But he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.” The disciples did so, and everyone sat down. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve baskets full of broken pieces that were left over. (Luke 9:14-17)
My son volunteered at a Christian thrift store. Not all the items dropped off met the charity’s requirements for selling. Some items were given to charities that distribute to the poor. The items kept required organization for pricing and display. It was the donor’s job to share and my son’s job to organize and distribute. God fulfilled the miracle of meeting everyone’s needs.
Jesus performed the miracle of providing food to 5,000 men and their families having only a small amount of food to work with. A basket full of food was left over for each of the Twelve. The apostles were fed again as they were fed on their mission trip. This miracle of God’s provision was so important that all four gospel writers included it. Hopefully, the apostles understood God’s message this time. He is fully capable of providing abundance from shortage. It is our job to organize, share, and distribute as the apostles did with this harvest.
Dearest heavenly Father, thank you for your provisions and giving me abundant love and peace when I have a shortage. Let me have the courage to ask for miracles when one is needed to follow your will. In Jesus precious name I pray. Amen.
I told you yesterday that miracles are hard for me to wrap my brain around. The miracle of having food for 5,000 from 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish is astounding and huge! Jesus providing food for the Apostles while on mission is huge. Miracles today seem to be more quietly done and private, at least that was my experience. I am unaware of a huge, public miracle in our time. In Jesus’ day were the miracles huge and public to grab everyone’s attention so they would believe? A huge and most welcome miracle right now would be the end of the Corona virus. I am pretty sure God will not preform that miracle, but he could. There seems to be a lot more questions than answers.
Today God is pulling people up to heaven and placing them back on earth. That is very huge! God healing you from Cancer is huge in my book. It is possible God is using the coronavirus to keep people at home with their families or for some other purpose. If he is using the virus that way, it won’t end until he gives us the miracle of a vaccine. God wants people today to believe as much as He did back then. Every single person is precious to him, and He loves His adopted family just as much as His Jewish family.
I do not understand what you mean when you say that God is pulling people to heaven and then placing them back on Earth? I think that both of us experienced God’s healing powers when we had cancer. Some would say it is not God’s healing power but the doctors. I believe that it is both. God gives people the ability to become doctors.
I’m sorry I wasn’t clear. I am talking about near death experiences when people have seen Jesus and their loved ones in heaven and then God places them back on earth to tell about it. I feel that is a huge miracle. My healing came from a doctor because I had stage 1 cancer and my doctor removed it. On the other hand yours was not removed by surgery. Perhaps a doctor gave you the treatment but the treatment was a miracle.
I understand now. Yes, your healing did come from a Doctor and mine too. BUT Jesus was taking care of the Doctors and taking care of us too. Surgery removed my large tumor and radiation killed what was left. We were both fortunate that we had good outcomes but that happened because God was looking out for us every step of the way.
Yes, I also believe that the treatments are miracles. God is everywhere in science.
