But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete. (Luke 6:48b-49)
When we dig deep into the earth to build our home’s basement, we have a strong foundation built on rock. Pounding rain from a torrent may flood basements, but it won’t destroy our living areas. In Florida where we are close to sea level, we don’t have the option to dig deep for our home foundation, but we can plough into God’s word.
When we build our foundation on Jesus, we can weather suffering with joy, love the unlovely, and forgive our debtors. With Jesus, we have hope; forgiveness, perfect love, and a mansion with many rooms to be with our families when we die.
Heavenly Father, thank you for Jesus. Help me to put your words into practice so I can weather the storms of life with your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
I have learned the past couple of years that we can weather any storm with the help of Jesus Christ. We went through torture building this house but we are here and putting it behind us. We can do all things through Christ. Have a blessed Easter my dear sister!
You have a blessed Easter also! I am glad you are putting the troubles with your home behind you. You have two gorgeous places to pray, your front porch and your back porch. God has blessed you!
