Bible Study Devotional – Day 163 – Commentary Luke 6:2l – When will the weepers and the hungry laugh and be satisfied?

Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. (Luke 6:21)

A lot of us haven’t experienced hunger. Some of those considered poor in this country are overweight. However, the homeless are hungry. With the coronavirus outbreak, more of us are homeless because many shelters are following social distancing and placing six feet between cots and mattresses. Men are being relocated from ceilinged shelters providing food to whatever protection bridges provide. Pedestrians are sparse on sidewalks, so homeless donation cups remain empty, leaving many hungry and weeping.

The coronavirus has also left many of us hungering for righteousness, a closer relationship with God. I know God is receiving more prayers as we think about what’s important – the health of our families and our blessings. Those of us whose loved ones are sick with the virus are weeping, and we weep with them.

Heavenly Father, during this time of the coronavirus outbreak, I pray your promises that the hungry will be satisfied and that those who weep will laugh are fulfilled soon. I pray you will comfort the hungry and the weepers and for homeless shelters to receive more funds to provide increased space and protection for those who need it.

  1. I love your prayer! The Coronavirus is making those already in need more needy. I pray for the poor too, as they have extra burdens right now. I pray that the needy continue to receive help and feel blessed by our Father.
