Bible Study Devotional -Day 150 – Commentary Luke 5:25-26 – Should we ask God to lead us on every journey?

Immediately he stood up in front of them, took what he had been lying on and went home praising God. Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God. They were filled with awe and said, “We have seen remarkable things today.” (Luke 5:25-26)

Miami driving is a nightmare. My daughter, forced over a median, damaged her oil pan. She had two faulty oil pans installed, one used. The insurance company refused payment the third time. After being stranded, missing work and spending hours on the phone, my daughter called in tears. After praying, I reached a manager with a daughter the same age, and he immediately approved payment for installation of another oil pan. I told my daughter about my prayer, and she deemed the situation to be remarkable. We both praised God.

The friends of the paralytic no doubt prayed before they took him on a journey of faith by carrying him to Jesus, hoisting him on the roof, cutting a hole through it, and finally lowering him to Jesus. The paralyzed man obeyed Jesus by standing up, taking his mat, and going home. When Jesus and God are involved, remarkable things happen. In John 16:24b Jesus commands us, “Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.” When we ask in faith for God’s power and help the results we receive can go “through the roof” as they did for the paralyzed man.

Father God, help us to have faith and obey you by asking in prayer that you lead us through every journey of healing, finance, employment, deployment, traveling, building, purchasing, repairing, communicating, or loving. When we ask, our lives will run smoother, we will be amazed by remarkable things happening, our joy will be complete, our faith will grow, and we will praise you. Amen.

  1. I am praying for things to start going smoothly here. Every time we turn around we have some sort of unwelcome surprise. I am giving it all to God and asking if he can help us have a good month. AND then another good month after that. We have had so many financial setbacks. It is time to turn it all around so we can live in peace and happiness. Yes, we should ask God to walk with us on every journey.
