We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up. For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.” For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us that through endurance and the encouragement of Scripture, we might have hope. My three children, their friends, my nephew, and co-workers are Millennials. They seek to please others, want healthcare for all, and wish to share their country so others have a better life – things Jesus wants. Having big hearts, they feel insulted whenever another is insulted.
Being loving people, Millennials cannot believe in or trust a God that sends good people to hell. With all my heart I want you to know God loves you, no matter what you’ve done. He wants you to know His Son and not spend one second in hell, away from Himself.
2 Corinthians 12:9-11 teaches us God’s power is made perfect in our weakness. When we’re weak, God’s power rests on us. We should delight in difficulties because then God gives us power to be strong.
I owe Millennials, those I’ve prayed for, for making me realize God answers prayer and gives me strength. I want you to know God will give you power, His strength, when you pray. “Ask and you will receive.” (John 16:24) Bible study takes time we don’t have, but the Bible was written to encourage us and give us hope. When we’re strong, encouraged, and hopeful, it’s easier to build others up. Encourage someone today.
I believe in “sharing” what we have so “others can have a better life”. I think many millennials have an issue with what the old testament considers “weakness” which is why many of us are skeptical of religion. We believe those of different circumstances and those who have different beliefs and lifestyles are deserving of God’s love. Unfortunately, there are many biblical passages that denounce lifestyle choices that, in a progressive’s mind, are considered normal and deserving of acceptance. I think these issues needs to be addressed in order for more millennials to fully embrace christianity. Not every verse in the bible is applicable to the world we live in today. Many religious sects condemn others based on singular passages and don’t choose to focus on those verses that promote acceptance, inclusion and the power of God’s love.
Thank you for your thoughtful comment. I have a heart for Millennials, and I want every Millennial to have a relationship with God. We all need God’s power and love to live life to its best. God loves every Millennial, so you are right when you say that every Millennial is deserving of God’s love. I am going to address your concerns in the next couple of days by rewriting some of the Devotionals I have posted earlier. Today’s post will address that the Old Testament is not applicable in our lives because we are only under one commandment. John 13:34-35 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. Christianity only requires one thing: belief in Jesus as the Son of God, His death on the cross, and His resurrection. Therefore, anyone of any lifestyle can be a Christian. Christians are called to love, not to condemn or judge. I am praying for you and all Millennials to have a close relationship with God.
